Well, to be completely honest, the 'magic bird bath' belongs to Randy, though; it was an expression he used once and I appropriated. Sorry for not giving credit sooner! The idea of the 'action-figures', however, and Thranduil's less-than-delighted reaction to them, belongs to me. :)

In part, this carton was inspired by jael_the_scribe's stories, which I can highly recommend as a wonderful and in-canon view of Legolas' youth in Mirkwood; especially by her story "When Trees Are Bare" and the whole story arc that is started with that one.

A very happy Yule to you!

It's interesting that everyone compares Galadriel's mirror to a birth bath. I wonder why... NOT!

Hi, Soledad! Thank you, I am glad you loved this one!

It's interesting that everyone compares Galadriel's mirror to a birth bath. I wonder why... NOT!

Er, actually, "magic birth bad" was what I had originally written on my penncil sketch of the thing before I finished it with the quill. I noticed the error just in time to correct it! As for the 'bird bath', the expression belong's to Randy, I stole it from him... but then, the idea does come to mind, doesn't it?

A very happy christmas to you! Thank you for the pic you sent me! -- Aislynn

Randy Fesses Up
As for the 'bird bath', the expression belong's to Randy, I stole it from him...

Randy confesses that the idea belongs to the late Doug Kenny, from his brilliant 'Bored of the Rings' in which the Lady Lavalier has to chase an angry sparrow out of the vessel before she can tell 'Frito's' debatable fortune.

Birth bath?

Please, I beg you, do not put that vision into our minds! ;)

Galadriels bird bath
I thought a lot about this one. Imagine a bigger bird drinking from and splash around in Galadriels magical bird bath, a hawk or an eagle. Wouldn´t little Legolas be happy to own a lap-dog-sized Smaug? What a terrific toy or pet - if you don´t mind smouldering holes in your furniture and elsewhere. Now imagine the nightingale-sized elflings shooting at the little dragon with toothpicks...
Hey, and to Thranduil, if he wants to play the spoilsport: better a cute little golden dragon than a mini-balroc.
Very amused,

Re: Galadriel's bird bath, or: Pet Dragons?!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

You know, you are - and you always have been - my best source of inspiration (or the worst, depending of the POV of the beholder). Now I have that image in my head of "lill' Smaug" wreaking havoc in Mirkwood, or rather in Legolas' Adar's (underground) halls, and Thranduil trying to convince his son that dragons, even little ones, are not really made to be kept inside all the time and it would be so much more fitting to release the poor pet... while planning his revenge on Auntie Galadriel. *Snort*

As for the Mini-Balrog - don't give me ideas. After all, a Mini-Balrog would be so much more fitting for living in caves, would it not?

On second thought, I would not wish such a thing on anyones head (or halls), much less Thranduil's. I am biased, after all!

A cute little dragon, on the other hand... :)

Greetings and Cheers! -- Aislynn
